How Mulch Is Made

Posted on March 15, 2022

Have you ever wondered how tree companies make mulch? Mike, from Mike’s Tree Company, is here in today’s video to spill the secret on how they recycle trees to create mulch.

The days of chipping or burning discarded trees are long gone. Now, the industry has shifted to reuse old trees to create mulch that can breathe new lives into gardens, lawns, and all landscaping options.

It starts with tree removal. After trimming their customer’s trees, Mike’s Tree Company crews bring the pruned branches and tree parts back to the tree company yard. Once on the property, the recycling process can begin. The teams will sort out the trees by species to ensure proper coloring of the mulch before starting the grinding process. You will also see how they sift through the material to remove contaminants like dirt or leaves.

Each season, Mike’s Tree Company produces upwards of 8,000 cubic yards of wood waste, sorted into multiple color options. They offer onsite pickup and delivery for both homeowners and contractors, and they are open five days a week.
